Most visitors first discover Thong Sala through its ferry terminal. They arrive from Koh Samui or Koh Tao, collect a scooter and head straight for the beaches — rarely stopping long enough to discover one of Koh Phangan's most exciting places to eat.

That's a mistake. Thong Sala isn't simply the island's transport hub — it's where Koh Phangan comes together.

Why Eat in Thong Sala?

Before sunrise, fishing boats unload their catch while cafés welcome early risers with fresh coffee and warm pastries. • Saturday is special. If you're here at the weekend, plan your evening around the Saturday Walking Street.
• Most places are walkable. Once you've parked the scooter, many restaurants, cafés and markets are easy to explore on foot.
